OVERVIEW OF CENTRAL LIBRARY, SIPAJHAR COLLEGE
Brief History of the Library
The Central Library at Sipajhar College is a vibrant hub that supports the institution's mission of achieving excellence in education and research. The library offers its facilities to all students, faculty members, and employees of the college, as well as to external users with prior permission from the college authority.
The library is fully computerized, using SOUL 2.0 software to manage its operations, including acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serial control, and OPAC. It also features a digital section with DSpace software, where college publications such as books, journals, magazines, prospectus, conference proceedings, project reports, question papers, and class notes are preserved. This modern setup provides a conducive learning environment, with an open-access system and a spacious reading area that fosters mental discovery and exploration.
To further support academic pursuits, each department within the college has its own library, offering additional resources to students and teachers. Moreover, the library provides access to e-resources through N-LIST consortia and NDLI platform, enhancing the academic experience. The library remains open from 10 A.M. to 4 P.M. on all working days and offers book-bank facilities to needy and deserving students, allowing them to borrow books for the entire academic session.
